How to Copy a Pinterest Link — Pins, Boards, Profiles, and Videos on Every Device (2026)

Almost everything you might want to do with a Pinterest pin outside of Pinterest starts with its link: sharing it, citing it, embedding it, reporting it, or downloading it. Pinterest puts the copy option in slightly different places on each platform, and the app sometimes gives you a short pin.it link rather than the full URL, which confuses people who expected to see pinterest.com/pin/....

This guide covers every case: pins, video pins, boards, profiles, and sections, on iPhone, Android, and desktop, plus what to do when the option isn't there.

The Two Kinds of Pinterest Links

Before the steps, it helps to know what you're going to get.

Full links look like this:

https://www.pinterest.com/pin/123456789012345678/
https://www.pinterest.com/username/board-name/
https://www.pinterest.com/username/

They may carry a country code in the domain (pinterest.co.uk, pinterest.de, pinterest.com.au) depending on where you are. All of them resolve to the same pin.

Short links look like this:

https://pin.it/4aBcDeF

The app generates these when you share. They redirect to the full link. Both formats work in PinLoad and anywhere else that accepts Pinterest URLs, so there's no need to expand a short link manually. If you want the full link for a citation or an embed, open the short link in a browser and copy the address bar once it's redirected.

Copy a Pin Link on iPhone or Android

  1. Open the pin.
  2. Tap the share icon (an arrow on iOS, three connected dots on some Android layouts) at the top of the pin or below the image.
  3. In the share sheet, tap Copy link.
  4. A "Link copied" toast confirms it.

The link is on your clipboard. Paste it into a message, a notes app, or the input box at PinLoad.

If you don't see Copy link in the share sheet, scroll the row of app icons sideways; it's sometimes after your messaging apps. On iOS, you can also long-press the pin image itself for a context menu that includes copying.

Copy a Pin Link on Desktop

The fastest way: open the pin and copy the address bar. The URL is the full pin link.

Alternatively:

  1. Hover the pin in a grid or open it.
  2. Click the share icon (the arrow) that appears.
  3. Click Copy link.

The share menu version produces the same full link, so use whichever is closer to your mouse.

Copy a Video Pin Link

Video pins are pins, so all of the above applies. There's no separate "video link." When you paste a video pin's URL into PinLoad, it detects the video and gives you an MP4; see the video download guide for the rest of the process on your device.

One caveat: some video pins inside a multi-page idea pin have their own page index. The link you copy is to the whole idea pin. Our idea pin guide covers that format.

Copy a Board Link

App: open the board, tap the share icon at the top, tap Copy link.

Desktop: open the board and copy the address bar, or click the share icon next to the board title.

Board links look like pinterest.com/username/board-name/. Secret boards have links too, but they only work for people who are already members; see our secret boards guide. To save everything on a board, our board download guide walks through the options.

Sections within a board have their own links: open the section and copy the address bar. The URL adds the section name after the board name.

Copy a Profile Link

App: open the profile, tap the share icon in the top-right, tap Copy link. On your own profile, the share option is under the three-dots menu.

Desktop: open the profile and copy the address bar. Profile links are pinterest.com/username/.

If you're trying to find someone's profile in the first place, our guide on finding people on Pinterest has the search tricks.

Copy the Link to the Image Itself

Sometimes you want the direct image file URL rather than the pin page, for example to paste into a reverse image search. On desktop:

  1. Open the pin.
  2. Right-click the image and choose Copy image address (Chrome) or Copy Image Link (Safari).

The URL will be on i.pinimg.com and will contain a size folder like 736x. Our image size guide explains how to swap that for originals to get the full-resolution file. In the app there's no direct image URL option; use PinLoad with the pin link to download the original instead.

When "Copy Link" Is Missing

  • The pin is on a secret board you don't own. You can't get a shareable link to something you can't access. If you're a collaborator, the share option is there.
  • The app is out of date. Pinterest has moved the share button around several times. Update the app.
  • You're in a limited region or account state. Accounts under restriction sometimes lose sharing. Check for a violation notice.
  • The pin is an ad. Promoted pins can be shared, but the option is under the three-dots menu rather than the share icon on some layouts.

As a fallback on any device, open the pin in a browser (long-press → Open in browser from the app's share sheet) and copy the address bar.

Turning a Link Into a Download

Once the link is on your clipboard:

  1. Open pinload.app in any browser.
  2. Paste into the input box.
  3. Click download. Images arrive as the original file; videos as MP4; GIFs via the GIF downloader as animated GIF.

Device-specific notes, including where the file ends up, are in the iPhone, Android, and PC guides.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the app give me a pin.it link instead of pinterest.com?

Short links are easier to share in messages. They redirect to the full link and work everywhere the full link works.

Can I get a link that opens the pin in the app rather than the browser?

Any Pinterest link opens in the app on a phone that has it installed. There's no separate app link.

Does copying a link notify the pinner?

No. Pinterest doesn't track link copies or show them to anyone. See the privacy guide.

How do I copy links for lots of pins at once?

Open each pin in a new tab on desktop, then copy each address bar. For hundreds, the browser extension skips the copy step entirely by downloading from the grid.

The link I copied opens a different pin. Why?

You probably copied from the "more like this" area below a pin rather than the pin itself. Scroll to the top of the page before copying the address bar.
